Welcome to the World of Merb!
This is the official online game forum for students and teachers
Below is listed the answers to questions that are commonly asked by players/teachers who are new to the game. Please read through these questions and answers to acquaint yourself with this exciting new world.
- What exactly is The World of Merb?
The World of Merb is a site designed to allow for fellow Spoils of Civilization players to watch game trends on a larger scale then they would be able to in their own homes or classrooms. The World of Merb creates a forum for players to learn how game choices effect the civilization, which will help them make better game predictions.
- Does this data help me play the game?
Yes, since the data you will see is compiled from players currently using the game. By paying close attention to the changing market prices of certain resources a player can predict if the economy within their game is on the rise or headed towards a recession. Also, by charting patterns in the data a player can begin to see trends form and can learn how the "Public Market" relates to the "Private Market."
- What is the difference between the Public and Private markets?
The Public Market lists the average sale price of stocks being sold in all games being played. The data is compiled from players who have joined the online forum, and are listed in the Private Market. The Private Market is a list of individual players/students that are currently playing the game somewhere on the globe.
- Why is knowing how much money someone else has important to me?
By watching savings trends, in another players' account, over time you can begin to predict what happens to market prices when a person saves or spends. By understanding this trend you can apply it to your personal game and make more efficient purchases. Instead of only seeing a few people in front of you manage their accounts you now have an endless supply of examples to make economic trends easier to see.
- Do I have to use this site to play my own game?
No, The World of Merb is simply an extra tool to use in order to learn how business trends flow in a growing economy. The Spoils of Civilization can be played at home or in class with no internet use.
- Can I play The Spoils of Civilization online with players from other schools and/or states?
That project is currently being designed and in the near future you will be able to learn and play with fellow adventurers from around the globe. The Merbineers at Precision Mathematics are hard at work to make this dream a reality as soon as possible.
- What do the screens below show?
Below you are looking at two seperate markets, whose relation needs to be discovered by you. On the left, the Public Market lists the average sale price of any stock sold, in all the games currently being played. On the right, the Private Market lists the bank accounts of all players currently playing the game. In that window you can view two types of accounts, Corporate Accounts and Private Accounts. Corporate Accounts represent a pair of players who decided to play the game together under an alias. Private accounts simply represent students who are playing the game by themsleves.
